Roadkill by Mena

Roadkill: 365 is an experimental fashion collection that redefines the relationship between nature, waste, and wearable art. Over the course of a year, I will travel across all 50 states—spending seven days in each—collecting roadkill from highways and rural roads. Each specimen will be carefully skinned, tanned, and transformed into one-of-a-kind garments, preserving the raw textures and organic histories of these forgotten creatures.

This project is both a commentary on the excess of waste in American culture and a meditation on sustainability, honoring the materials that would otherwise be left to decay. By merging traditional leatherworking techniques with avant-garde design, Roadkill: 365 challenges perceptions of luxury, ethics, and the lifecycle of fashion. Each piece is a relic of the land it was found on—stitched together to form a brutal yet intimate portrait of survival, decay, and renewal.
